East Coast Antics
Apologies all around for the delay in my blogging. It has been a very busy week of traveling. Last weekend Ross, Ben, and I flew to Ohio for a conference in Carlisle, and now we are rocking the east coast for five days in Pennsylvania and Maryland. Despite the exhaustion of traveling, it has been a very eventful and pleasing week.
The Lord worked on our patience today as we experienced seven hours of driving that was originally supposed to be about two.
The short version of the story is that we made our way back to the airport in Baltimore to drop off the rental car where we were then picked up by our Marylandian friend Jason, who drove us about 45 minutes away to where we were scheduled to play that night. We arrived only to find out that Ross had left his suitcase, laptop bag, and a large cardboard box full of his Cd’s on the curb of the car rental center.
I so badly want to leave the story at that because of how ridiculous that actually sounds, but I’ll digress for Ross’ sake.
What had happened was that when we were loading all of our equipment from our rental car to Jason’s car, Jason was told by the fine authorities at the BWI airport to pull his car forward to get out of the way of the buses. Ross’ stuff was never loaded and remained sitting on the curb by the original spot, and in the midst of all of us going back and forth to grab equipment, we failed to realize that we were three items short when we pulled away.
Anyways, we grudgingly made the two hour round trip back to the airport, making frantic phone calls along the way to airport faculty that had absolutely no interest in picking up an abandoned cardboard box sitting outside of their facilities.
We don’t really blame them though. (We do, however, blame the terrorists…)
Miraculously, all of his stuff was still sitting on the curb, and we managed to convince someone on the phone to grab it and set it aside for us before we got there.
We had now managed to visit the BWI Airport three times in just over 24 hours.
Thankfully the day was redeemed with a great house show and a non fast food dinner, which our bodies were desperately pleading for.
Tomorrow is our day off, which we will be spending at the Baltimore Aquarium and hopefully playing some good ol’ fashioned Cornhole.
(Don’t be afraid to click that link, it’s good wholesome family fun)
Once I get back home on Monday, I will put up a few videos of what we have been doing out here on the east coast. I’d do it sooner except I forgot the part of my camera that lets me connect it to the computer.
